Just for your information.
Hope this is useful. On July 2, 2024, the MySQL 9.0 GA version was officially released. Remember, MySQL 8.0 was officially released on April 19, 2018.
After a long span of six years, MySQL has finally released the 9.0 version with a major version number change.
MySQL 9.0 introduces new features such as saving EXPLAIN Analyze JSON output, new Event syntax for DDL statements, and two new tables added to the performance schema.
It deprecates the variables_info table from older versions and removes the mysql_native_password authentication plugin.
These updates do not bring major functional changes and have minimal impact on most applications, lacking the excitement of the InnoDB storage engine introduced in MySQL 5.7.
The release notes also do not emphasize performance improvements, likely indicating minimal performance gains compared to version 8.4.
Congratulations to the MySQL team on the release of MySQL 9.0 GA. As the leading open-source database, MySQL’s position is unshakable.
The new version is expected to further consolidate MySQL’s dominance in the database field, bringing more possibilities to database applications.
