QBE with MySql (an idea)

BTW, does anyone have any idea how to create an app which will create SQL code by QBE (Query By Example)?
Can you explain with a small example?
Following is not classic example of QBE, but it will be helpful for our coding with MySql back end.

A. This will be helpful mainly when we refresh array from MySql (or any other sql database) table.
For a table with large number of fields, we have to type all (or selected) fields, which leads to typo error ;)

So, if we have a utility where
1) we can select a database, table
2) when we select a table, all fields will be stored in different rows of a grid with check box for each row.
3) we can select all or selected fields by clicking check box

Then SQL code will be generated as per our selection. In that case, I prefer code will be within quotes with 60 character line limit, so that we can directly copy and paste into our HMG code.

B. For Report. Here we need joining more than one table with selection of fields, ORDER BY fields, GROUP BY fields etc.
A good example may be MS Access -> Query builder.

Here also generated code will be stored within quotes with 60 character line limit.

Please note that those are very basic ideas only :?

With best regards.

Nice idea Sudip.

However, I am now working on a big, nice, useful, secret ;) project. Once finished I will let all of you know and share with you.

As your signature says, "Anything is possible if you try!"
East or West HMG is the Best.
South or North HMG is worth.
...the possibilities are endless.

Hi my friends,

Sudip, very nice your idea. I think about something like it. But for work with FireBird. I search on the web, but never find something realy good for work with this DataBase Server.
I´m write a lot of functions for work with firebird (and others database servers, of course), but currently i don´t have many free time.
When i finish this functions i´ll post in here for share with us, and for improved it too.

Other idea.
I´m write too one calculator for use on HMG app. It is just like with windows calculator, with the vantage that it return the value that was calculate. It are in begining, but i hope finish it as far as possible.

PS: Sorry my bad english,

With best regards,

Hi Van Guarda,

May be little off the track of the topic of this thread. I hope you have some experience about Firebird.

How it is? Is it really resource hungry? Is is fast?

Please send your comments.

Thanks in advance.

With best regards.

Hello my friend SUDIP,

Yes, i work with FireBird and it work fine with me.
It is very fast and easy... The instalation of the server is very easy on linux and windows OS. Your management too, i use the IBExpert (personal edition) of the IBPHOENIX company.

Some time ago (4 years may be), i had work with firebird and xHarbour Comercial Version + SQLRDD. Currently i work with firebird + ODBC + HMG and the performance is was like with xHarbour. :o

I´m very glad with this RDBMS.

I write a little article on my blog about this:
http://hmglights.wordpress.com/2009/08/ ... d-com-hmg/

Another thing that i can say about this RDBMS, it is very safe and powerfull.

Well i hope you can be sucessfull with the FireBird. Anyway post on here your doubt.

I hope help you

with best regards,
