DBC with ADS?
Hi All,
From long time ago I'm using Alexander Kresin's DBC utility (console mode) version.
Some time ago, I've noted a problem: When you change structure of a dbf file, deleted records are automatically recalled. Such behavior bring me some problems, specially for an application that is expected to keep deleted records forever (pack before changing structure is not an option).
So, I've attempted to try the DBC, ADS version, but it generates a runtime error.
Has anyone tested it and make it work?
DBC Site: http://www.kresin.ru/en/dbc.html
TIA.

From its fisrt version (about mid 80's (I think)), I've started to use Norton Commander.
When it was discontinued I've changed to 'UFO file manager', later to 'File Commander' and finally to 'FAR Manager'.
So, for the last 30 years, mi PCs were, most of the time, sitting on the blue-two panels screen . Even in Linux (my operating system at home from the last years) I use 'Double Commander' (in this case, I must to change the default background color to blue ).
DBC (console version) has the same 'look and feel' as Norton Commander, so I've stuck with it from its first verion.
But... if no solution to the described problem appears, could be the time for a change

Roberto,
DBF Viewer 2000 by HiBase Group has an excellent support.
If some option is missing: you email them and the next day you have an upgrade.

If you like good old stuff visit the http://www.the-oasis.net/ftpmaster.php3 ... putils.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and dbx130.zip Bytes: 125,478 Date: 1993-03-22
dbMAX is an xBASE utility that will allow complete multi-user access
to any xBASE databases and indexes. The program uses a CUA-type menu
system with Brief(R)-style hot keys and can browse databases in up to
250 moveable, sizable windows. Almost every Clipper(R)/dBASE(R)
command is available, allowing dbMAX to replace the dBASE
Assist/Control Center or Computer Associates' DBU utility. dbMAX also
has a partially open architecture, allowing programmers to create
their own menus and operate on dbMAX internal data structures.
I use it since I found it

Re: DBC with ADS?
HI,
I think the DBC sources are available on the site. May be you could modify the sources to suit your purpose.
Warm regards,
Jayadev
