Hi All, (and problems printing:)

Post by Roberto Lopez »

Hi All,

I'm still pretty busy, mainly, developing HMG applications. This still keeping me away from the forum.

And I'm here as an 'user' and reporting a possible problem :)

If you wonder why I'm reporting the problem and not solving it, is because, maybe, someone already found and fixed it, or, at least someone has some idea... :)

I'm trying to print in network printers from Windows 7 machines.

The program simply stop responding and the most amazing thing, is that the entire system stop responding too.

I've tested from two different (brand new) Windows 7 PCs and with different networked printers with the same results.

Any idea?
Regards/Saludos,

Roberto

Hola, Roberto ...

Can you print to these printers from other applications (e.g., Word)?

Check printer setup in Control Panel - right clickon 'Properties' and make certain that it isn't locked to a single user for some reason.

If that doesn't work let me know and I'll ask one of our IT Desktop Technicians for their input/advice.

Hola Roberto:

Yes.

That is not the problem, since, as I've pointed, the printer is working fine for the all other applications.

Thanks anyway.

Roberto

Hello Roberto,

Welcome back :)

The printer is connected to a PC or directly to a network port?

What version of Harbour are using?
Regards,

MigSoft.

Hi Roberto,

So much happy to see you. :)

Do you have which version of Windows7? I have checked using Windows 7 Ultimate. It seems working for me.
East or West HMG is the Best.
South or North HMG is worth.
...the possibilities are endless.

It is connected to a network port directly.

I'm using 3.0.35 which includes Harbour 2.0.0.

Roberto:

I have been experiment printing problems with harbour 2 printing to the port directly
I did obtain blank pages (no print)

in harbour 3 the problem was resolved

I don't know if this is a related problem then I need to do this in hb 2 :

I only want share my experience with you or anothers.

#xtranslate SET PRINTER TO [<args>] => x_setprinterto([<(args)>])

function x_setprinterto( cpar )
local oerr,oErrant,num:=1
default cpar to "prn"

oerrant:=errorblock({|oErr|break(oErr)})
BEGIN SEQUENCE
Set( 24, "lpt3", .F. )
RECOVER USING oErr
END SEQUENCE

BEGIN SEQUENCE
Set( 24, "lpt2", .F. )
RECOVER USING oErr
END SEQUENCE

BEGIN SEQUENCE
Set( 24, "lpt1", .F. )
RECOVER USING oErr
END SEQUENCE

BEGIN SEQUENCE
Set( 24, cpar, .F. )
RECOVER USING oErr
cfile:=getmydocumentsfolder()+"\p"+alltrim(str(num))+cpar+".prn"
wilderase(getmydocumentsfolder()+"\*.prn")
do while .t.
if file(cfile)
num++
cfile:=getmydocumentsfolder()+"\p"+alltrim(str(num))+cpar+".prn"
else
exit
endif
enddo
Set( 24,cfile, .F. )
END SEQUENCE
errorblock(oErrant)
return nil

best regards
Ciro

Thanks Ciro!

I'm glad to find you again here.

I'll do some tests and if find a solution I'll comment it here.

Thanks again.
