Agil Abdullah wrote:Hi all,

I live in Jakarta (Indonesia), 54 years old, an ex professional CLIPPER and database programmer around 1986-2000. Also ex programmer in COBOL and BASIC.

I retired as programmer since 2005. And this year I decided to comeback as programmer after I find Harbour Compiler and the like; they impress me very very much. That's way joining this forum to become as a poster truly very interesting to me. Hope I could promote Harbour in my country Indonesia after finding myself being good in using HMG.

Fortunately, I am a public blogger, a writer at social media. I hope I could help you to make documentation, especially in Indonesian language ; a lot of potential Indonesian programmers do not read English well. At the same time I find hundreds of database programmers in Indonesia who need to improve their skill, but -once again- English is one out of their weekness.

When you find any mistake of my posts here, pls do not hesitate to let me know. I'll make corrections accordingly. I need help to recompile my source programs written under CLIPPER 5.2e with Harbour Compiler. Currently I use Windows 7 for work in my office.

Many thanks to all of you.

Hearty welcome Agil from India. I am sure the benefits being mutual.

Hi,
I am a DOS Clipper programmer in the UK trying to learn to program applications in hmg.4 and have built / compiled the program hmg_hpdf - export to pdf made easy (new version) by Rathinagiri on both Win XP and Linux Mint and consistently get the same errors on 4 lines of code as follows:-
C:\hmg_pdf\main.prg(11) Error E0030 Syntax error "syntax error at 'PDF_CREATE'"
C:\hmg_pdf\main.prg(14) Error E0020 Incomplete statement or unbalanced delimiters C:\hmg_pdf\main.prg(15) Error E0020 Incomplete statement or unbalanced delimiters
C:\hmg_pdf\main.prg(76) Error E0030 Syntax error "syntax error at 'FILE'"
4 errors
Grateful if you can advise where I can post this query.
Kind regards
roscho

Hi Roscho,

Have you be welcome to our community.

Nice to know your interest for HMG.

HMG 4 is discontinued at moment and I kindly ask you post all your doubts in the right section, in order not mix matters and be easy for search info in the future.

Just to understand... Version 4+ is discontinued, right?
What about version 3+??? Is it being continued?

Hi Qatan,

Yes, unfortunately the project of HMG4 in QT that had been doing by colleagues (Roberto Lopez, Ricci, Francesco as mrduck, Luigi as l3whmg and others) has been discontinued.
It was doing so well, but it seemed that the project was very advanced at the time for everyone to give the true value it deserved ...

But the HMG version 3+???... it's going very well at last in ANSI, UNICODE, 32bits and 64bits :P

Rathinagiri and Claudio are official developers in HMG also contributors are making a good job together.

In my opinion, we owe much to Dr. Claudio Soto and their amazing routines in C that has given a new glow HMG versions.

But the contribution of Rathinagiri and other members make what is now a very versatile, simple and powerful tool all working together. :)

Thanks for the clarification.
There is a Brazilian group developing with QT (Qt4xhb and Qt5xhb). Seems a good initiative...
Here is the link: http://magsoftinfo.com.br/blogdomag/ (site in Portuguese)
They are working even in a "MiniGUI/QT": http://www.magsoftinfo.com.br/projetos/ ... /index.php

There is also Marinas-GUI and hbQT... sometimes I get a bit confused what each one does...
