Let's Improve The New HMG Forum's Home Page

Post by Agil Abdullah »

Hi All,

Since the new format of HMG Forum has been lounched around 24hours at the time I wrote this post, I feel I should forward my proposal to improve the home page. For the following conditions [ if you agree with me ]:

1) Overral ,this new format looks very nice, very interesting, very refreshing.

2) The Home Page losts the good things from the old format/version: No panel for New Posts, No Panel For Recent Popular, No Panel For Members, No Panel For Attachments info. It losts state of dynamic forum.

3) The Home Page seems similiar to static Encyclopedia or Tutorial o ; providing only "Visit to Group Of Topics".

4) The Home Page places very small "Combo Button" at left-top-most, in order to open pages of New Posts and so on.

5) We need to keep goods things from the pasts while implementing new look-new tech-fine performance.

So, in order to maintain point number 5, permit me to show you my proposal as seen on screenshoot attached herewith. For the following reasons [again if you agree with me]:

A) This forum attracts (and should be so) two sides of group of people: Public[non-members] and members. These two sides have their own interests.

B) From the point of non-members' interest: Looking for everything new, anything happends recently, who's the members, hot topics. What they are looking for are supposed to appear at Home Page.

C) From the point of members' interest: all interests of non-members', plus these: maintaining their posts, looking after special post, and maintain their contacts to members.

So, if The Management of HMG Forum agrees ( in some or all ), please have a look at my screenshoot to consider. I Propose, you decide. Please note: the bottom block page (containing of fields to Login, etc) needs no change.

With Kind Regards

NB: Have a nice weekend for all

It looks very nice Agit.

IMHO, we can implement many if at all not all. I will do it one by one. :)
East or West HMG is the Best.
South or North HMG is worth.

Code pages visualization is a bit different but more handy in Clipper Online forum of our friend PC Toledo :

Hi Rathi,

I agree with Esgici for improvements in code tags. This visualization of source codes has highlighting for xBase syntax and also has a rule numbering all the code. This numbers, helps a lot when we want to indicate specific lines as reference.

It would be so cool to have it with us. Our friend Mr. Paulo C. Toledo most probably he can donate to us his phpBB code for you implementation here.

B.Rgds

Hi Rathi,

I have entered in touch with Mr. Paulo C. Toledo and he said is actually using phpBB3 version 3.0.5.
PCToledo forum have implemented on 2010 making manual modifications in many modules as security mechanism (to avoid spammers), this MOD of SyntaxHighlighter, Liked/Remove Liked, personalized quoted messages, Exclusive section for Upsloads & Downloads, improved Search mechanism (included short words), removing "RE" at subjects when is replying, pop-up messages during receiving MP when be logged, option to enter a private chat room, special Who's on line with IPs address, procedure to avoid any remove of user message... but Toledo make by himself all maintanence of forum system.

And he gives me following important links:
https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=1697035 (is not official MOD in phpBB forum and they make following note:
The phpBB Team is not responsible nor required to provide support for this modification. By installing this MOD, you acknowledge that the phpBB Support Team or phpBB Modifications Team may not be able to provide support.
Segue abaixo o link do site do autor deste script:

http://alexgorbatchev.com/SyntaxHighlighter/ This site is from author of SyntaxHighlighter

you also could some more at:

I know is difficult decision by opting new implementations and regulkar upgrades.
